Applications of Magnesium
Due to its light weight, mechanical properties, and suitable heat resistance, magnesium has become a substitute for commonly used metals such as steel, cast iron, and aluminum. The use of this metal in the automotive industry leads to lighter vehicles and reduced fuel consumption. Accordingly, considering the growing global demand for magnesium, particularly in the automotive sector and aluminum alloy production in recent years, Behineh Kavosh Samin Company intends to establish a plant on a 15-hectare land in Sirjan Industrial Town to be recognized as the leading producer of magnesium in the Middle East.
As one of the strongest and lightest metals, magnesium is used in applications where weight reduction is of significant importance. Furthermore, the use of magnesium in foundry industries improves casting quality. Examples of magnesium alloy applications include aircraft components, automobile wheels, engine cylinder blocks, bicycles and other sporting goods, ladders, control hinges, fuel tanks, and aircraft wings. In addition, magnesium alloys are used in the production of base components in the automotive and aerospace industries, as well as in desulfurization of iron and steel.
