Behineh Kavosh Samin Company, on a 14-hectare land located in Sirjan Industrial Town No. 2 in the mineral-rich province of Kerman, has established a magnesium ingot production plant with a nominal annual capacity of 20,000 tons. With the aim of producing and exporting this product, the company is committed to manufacturing magnesium ingots in compliance with international standards and with product diversification.

Project Benefits

  • Establishment of the Largest Magnesium Ingot Production Unit in the Country
  • Job creation for 600 people directly in a productive and sustainable manner, and at least 2,000 people indirectly in downstream industries.
  • Availability of highly suitable energy infrastructure as well as rich dolomite mines in Kerman Province.
  • Growth and improvement of the region’s economic conditions through the employment of local skilled workforce, enhancement of expertise, and development of technical skills.
  • Development of downstream industries, including steel production, ferroalloy production, automotive industries, and completion of the value chain.

Environmental Considerations

The commitment and adherence of all parts of this company to the protection of the environment and compliance with national and international environmental requirements and standards throughout all stages of this project are regarded as fundamental and inviolable principles for its implementation, and have always been the guiding framework of all activities. It is worth mentioning that, in this regard, obtaining environmental approvals, establishing core HSE units at the head office and at the plant site, as well as employing the latest environmentally friendly global technologies, are among the measures undertaken.

Production Process

Behineh Kavosh Samin Company utilizes the advanced thermal reduction method (Pidgeon process) for magnesium extraction.

Applications of Magnesium

Due to its light weight, mechanical properties, and suitable heat resistance, magnesium has become a substitute for commonly used metals such as steel, cast iron, and aluminum. The use of this metal in the automotive industry leads to lighter vehicles and reduced fuel consumption. Accordingly, considering the growing global demand for magnesium, particularly in the automotive sector and aluminum alloy production in recent years, Behineh Kavosh Samin Company intends to establish a plant on a 15-hectare land in Sirjan Industrial Town to be recognized as the leading producer of magnesium in the Middle East.
As one of the strongest and lightest metals, magnesium is used in applications where weight reduction is of significant importance. Furthermore, the use of magnesium in foundry industries improves casting quality. Examples of magnesium alloy applications include aircraft components, automobile wheels, engine cylinder blocks, bicycles and other sporting goods, ladders, control hinges, fuel tanks, and aircraft wings. In addition, magnesium alloys are used in the production of base components in the automotive and aerospace industries, as well as in desulfurization of iron and steel.
